During the recent cabinet meeting on Mondays with the representatives of the pavilions under actions coordinated by Nancy Caballero, absent on this occasion, the Criminological Technical Department team was present, headed by its area chief Miriam Boo.
We were able to interview her from Liberté press and she told us about her task, which is that they are in charge of preparing the report on the different benefits requested by individuals deprived of their liberty.
In the meeting, it was explained how the situations or the benefits that they request are, and how the DTC would be working.
Regarding the area that has to be in front, he pointed out that it is like a funnel, where the person is summoned to a meeting, based on the benefit they requested, whether it is an assisted release, parole, any type of extramural benefit, and different people who make up the board, who come from different sectors, make an individualized report, and after this they return to the Admission and Follow-up Group (GAyS), a virtual file is made and from there it goes to the DTC.
This determines based on all these reports collected from the sectors that make up the GAyS, and an opinion is made whether or not the benefit requested by the person is convenient or not.
She said that, in reality, since she took over this management, a little over a year ago, she has not had any backlogs, delays, in terms of managing the preparation of the virtual file.
And I add that since the meeting is held it takes about ten days for the report to be ready with its respective file of each person in court, for which I confirm that there are no delays in her work.
I don't know about the court itself, I don't handle that, it's not up to us as an institution to know, I point out, the head of the DTC area in the penal unit 15 of Batán, the Miriam Boo penitentiary.
