He is a prisoner who has been housed in the Batán prison for almost ten years, he is a regular visitor to Liberté and he tells us that he has visited several prisons in that time. He remembers that he came to our space with the possibility of carrying out a task and that despite the fact that it did not materialize, he kept coming, he affirms that he feels free in this place, physically and mentally because it allows him to meet people who think differently, that seeks a different objective in terms of what is the context of confinement, what is jail.
It also speaks of a healthy coexistence between prisoners from different pavilions and different causes, in the Liberté space, where everything is shared from a meal to learning through training courses and workshops, this is what is offered, sharing the place Emmanuel said.
He also said that when people arrive from abroad they do not know what is generated here and when they leave they do so with a good impression.
Health facilitator and representative of the pavilion population
Regarding this, he indicates feeling comfortable, embodying this figure that acts as an intermediary, who facilitates tasks that are related to knowing what may be happening to a prisoner in terms of health, either due to discomfort or reaching him with his medication. This is a task where he can help, look not so much for oneself but for the other and this is very gratifying, he asserted.
One, as a representative of his pavilion, acts as a mediator, because sometimes the needs are demanding in terms of what the pavilion is, Emanuel tells us, and he goes on to say that certain responsibilities must be taken, because it is not only to be a reference, many times you have to be a listener.
I see what is the conviction that is not only seen by politics but by conscience, to resolve a conflict that the subculture of the prison does not encourage the detainee, this leads to a consensus, so that we do not reach a burdensome situation, Emanuel pointed out.
