Dialogue with working prisoners
Miriam Lascano recently graduated as a social worker from the School of Health Sciences and Social Work and is now pursuing her bachelor's degree.
To conclude with her study work she must develop a thesis that she has to present in the high house of studies as the end of her student task.
She mentioned having talked with the prisoners who carry out daily tasks in Liberté, about her life stories, and how they are spending it in our space that she considers of pacification and freedom inside the prison.
He said that everyone agreed in expressing that they are happy to have this space where they feel free, given the possibility of being able to develop camaraderie, work on self-esteem, participate in training workshops, study, for which they consider this place as a space of freedom.
She also recounted the resistance offered by the Penitentiary Service when it comes to wanting to participate in those moments within our territory.
Lascano mentioned that Liberté's task had impacted her for a long time, since she visited it for the first time, she was interested in knowing what is being done here, and also felt the need to make it known, because society is unaware of this reality that is lived in this space, you only hear the bad, the confinement, the fights, this is a place totally different from what one can imagine.
I was shocked to continue coming, to continue visiting a place where respect prevails, camaraderie, totally different from what society can imagine with people in confinement conditions.
As to whether there is still something missing from the thesis work, he indicates that the thesis plan is already within the department and the jury is about to choose, and God willing, halfway through the year the thesis will be defended and it will be announced within of the faculty and the Department is very happy that this unknown topic has been chosen, this will be the first thesis on the self-managed work of Liberté, from the city of Mar del Plata.
Lastly, she said that she always feels accompanied by us and that she is always well received and she promised to continue visiting us despite having completed her thesis work.
