In the last few hours, the Extension Secretariat of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Social Work, belonging to the National University of Mar del Plata, has made public the approval of the Free Knowledge Chair.

This chair directly involves our self-managed space, Liberté, since it is about the very life of the members, in this remarkable experience.

We want to send our special thanks to those who, through their contribution, made this a reality, each one from their place: from the Extension Secretary of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Social Work, Ludmila Azcue and Luciana Patiño as well as Diana Marquez, Ricardo Augman and Claudia Perlo; to all of them our recognition.

Next, we transcribe the publication of the Secretary of University Extension of the high house of studies in Mar del Plata:

From the Community Networks Strengthening Program located in the Extension Secretariat of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Social Work, we are pleased to share the approval of the Free Knowledge Chair.

This extension chair is the product of a collective construction together with members of the Liberté Cooperative of the XV Penal Unit of Batán. More than 200 people deprived of their liberty are part of a self-managed experience based on work, education, culture and self-management in a confinement context.

Free Knowledge will consist of extension courses conducted and coordinated by the members of Liberté valuing their knowledge and collective experience, added to extension workshops on topics such as access to justice, self-managed experiences, access to health and food sovereignty.

We emphasize that this experience of critical extension is born from concrete demands of the prison territory, puts popular knowledge and academic knowledge in dialogue and accompanies processes of transformation and emancipation as it is a collective experience in, from and for those who live in prison.

From the paradigm of critical extension, it is intended to recognize an institutional, symbolic and material value to the popular knowledge constructed daily by the people who participate in Liberté - organizing themselves for access to fundamental rights (such as training, work, food and education). recreation)-, as well as putting said knowledge in dialogue with academic knowledge in order to contribute to the strengthening of these experiences of popular organization in the context of confinement.
