It was within the framework of the launch of the INADI National Anti-Discrimination Campaign.
It will be used in Buenos Aires spas this summer 2023 and is entirely built with our own resources, in the workshops of our work cooperative, one hundred percent self-managed by prisoners.
It was presented in the city of Miramar a few hours ago at the opening ceremony of the launch of the 2023 anti-discrimination campaign of INADI, (National Institute against Discrimination, Xenophobia and Racism), where the Mayor of the place was presented with the chair made by prisoners of our Liberté space.
Authorities of the aforementioned national organization participated in this act, such as the National Director of Policies and Practices against Discrimination of INADI, Ornella Infante, who presided over the inauguration act of this campaign on the Buenos Aires coast and other tourist spots in the country, for the present year.
Liberté makes history
This is an impressive intervention by our cooperative work organization from its production pole, with the intention of promoting anti-discriminatory prevention acts. For this opportunity we present the amphibious chair, which symbolizes by its characteristics that everyone has equal rights. Fundamentally so that people with movement difficulties can enjoy something as simple as a refreshing dip, either in pools or in marine waters that bathe the Buenos Aires coast or any spa in the country.
The amphibious chair built by Liberté
The amphibious chair is a chair made with aluminum pipes and stainless steel adjustments that moves through the sand to access the water without problems with the assistance of a couple of aquatic rescue professionals, “lifeguards”. The design is based on a prototype provided by lifeguard Diego Deyacobbi.
Ornella Infante categorically prioritized in her address, guaranteeing the possibility of access to oceanic waters along the entire coast during this summer and always, to those people with reduced mobility for different physical reasons.
The representation of our cooperative outside the walls
Liberté's presence was not limited to the donation of the amphibious chair. She was also represented in the figures of Diana Márquez, who in addition to being National Coordinator of the organization "Víctimas por la Paz", (belonging to the NGO Pensamiento Penal) is a member of our cooperative and Patricia Antón, substitute trustee of our Cooperative entity. Both attending the moment and place that will mark a before and after of our Liberté, who works making his way between the bars and the cement walls, to make it clear with deeds and not just with words that change can be achieved with his own impulse of those who seek it.
Our support
It is important to value the contribution of people who represent state institutions that accompany our Cooperative and who give us a daily example of effort and responsibility to reach the goals by supporting our institution. And special recognition goes to the Batán maximum security prison, Unit 15, because we were able to carry out the necessary tasks together with the essential support to achieve the objective of such a noble undertaking.
Campaign Consistency
“summer without discrimination 2023”
As it appears on the official portal "mi Argentina", the objective of the Summer Campaign without Discrimination is to focus on some discriminatory issues that emerge during the season, including fatphobia, racism, old age, discrimination against LGTIB+ people and people with disabilities; as well as raising awareness about accessibility and the right of admission, with the promotion of graphic material in territorial actions, trying to prevent discriminatory acts, making rights visible and training actors linked to tourist services.
