It was the Latin American Academy of Criminal and Penitentiary Law, who assumed this attitude, considering that a mental, reflective and dialogue review should be carried out, in order to join the legs of the same table, related to the penitentiary system, directly or indirectly, observing the difficult living conditions of those deprived of liberty, in the different prisons of Latin America.

For this reason, it is considered necessary to work so that the rights of prisoners are fulfilled.

From there, the conclusion is reached to take Liberté and his actions as the preponderant tool to be used as a model of self-management in Latin America and declares each of its activities of institutional interest.

Next, we transcribe the document:

Considering that:

It is necessary to make visible the current reality of persons deprived of liberty in the Americas through thought, dialogue, and reflection around the prison issue.

It is necessary to bring together in the same space the various actors that directly and indirectly form part of the prison system.

It is necessary to raise awareness of the difficult and crude conditions of confinement in which people deprived of their liberty are serving their sentences.

It is necessary to work towards full compliance with the rights of persons deprived of liberty in the Americas.

It is resolved:

Declare of institutional interest each one of the activities that the boys and girls deprived of liberty that belong to the boys deprived of liberty that belong to "Taller Liberté" have been developing as a model of self-management in Latin America.
