💡 Cooperativism
Also known as: Cooperative, Social Economy, Self-management
Form of economic organization based on the voluntary association of people to meet common needs through a collectively owned and democratically managed enterprise.
Cooperativism is founded on values such as mutual aid, responsibility, democracy, equality, equity, and solidarity. Each member has one vote, regardless of the capital contributed.
In penitentiary contexts, cooperativism operates as a restorative practice: it organizes work, distributes income equitably, and trains people in self-management, generating real conditions for reintegration upon release.
Examples / usage
The Cooperativa Liberté brings together 200 people deprived of liberty organized into 13 productive units. The INAES is the national body that regulates and promotes this type of organization in Argentina.
