From our newsroom we were able to talk with Martina Scabrina, who performs the function of technical coordinator of the Penitentiary Service, who is working on the program that is aimed at young adults.
This is a program that has been active in prison unit No. 15 in the city of Batán for almost a year and where good results can be seen today, says the prison coordinator.
Indicates that the program is for young people from 18 to 21 years of age and they join the work voluntarily, taking the commitment to participate in the program and then carry out various activities including soccer, yoga, theater workshop, podcast, between different cultural expressions.
She also mentions that young people are quite cooperative, they include themselves, they like what they do and they are the ones who propose the activities and lately they have turned to the possibility of carrying out artistic activities.
There are about sixty young people who currently participate, with a total of about 82 young people in the unit, and he considers the number important, although he clarifies that more important is having promoted the program, which as time goes by shows positive balances, although still it is too recent to make an in-depth evaluation.
The change is noticeable in the behavior of each one of them, they are progressing personally, progress is seen.
The Headquarters proposed this program and that of this unit carried it out so that young people are included.
For his part, Carlos, co-coordinator of the Liberté cooperative space, tells us that the cooperative has an outstanding role in this program, since it achieves an integration between the workers of the self-managed entity and the young adults who are integrated into the program.
For the theoretical training of the companions, says Carlos, Liberté provides the multipurpose room and the sports area for physical practices, in this case the soccer field.
We do social integrity within the prison system, behavior, concept, emptying the mind, not giving room to think about shady things and insists that this is achieved within the prison system.
It is a program that we support through integration because we believe in the change of people, but when the tools are granted and it gives a positive result, here we are seeing it, the cooperative leader pointed out.
