About Liberté, a neighbor said: "here there are people who want to produce, to progress"

In a nutshell

A neighboring carpenter expressed his interest in collaborating with Cooperativa Liberté, highlighting the production potential and progress of the person in a prison situation, and promised to support training and the acquisition of tools to strengthen the self-managed work within the prison.

Visit from the Carpenter

The neighbor of a city near this prison, a professional carpenter, who, having learned of the existence of our space, approached Cooperativa de Trabajo Liberté with the purpose of contributing through his knowledge and contacts to raise the daily work of our carpentry shop through training and the arrival of new tools, while also helping to produce for a specific clientele.

Reflections on People

not only to learn a trade, but also to be useful to society

His name is Gerónimo Aguirre and he says that not everyone is the same — not the person who is detained, nor the police officer, doctor, or judge. Each person, he continued, has good or bad intentions, and here there are many people who want to produce, to progress, so why not give them a hand, said our visitor.

Impressions of the Visit

After touring our space's facilities, he said it seemed incredible to him, and went on to describe the garden, the restaurant, the deli — everything is super organized. He added that he was lucky because the carpentry section is what still needs to be set up, in a clear reference to why he came to lend a hand, since the rest of the sections are well planned and that excites him. He smiles, like someone pleased with what he saw, and promises to return as soon as possible.

Without a doubt, Liberté, with its achievements and the daily effort of its members, manages to inspire in its visitors not only the desire to return — since there will always be something new to show — but also to collaborate, to support, and to drive the continued growth of our cooperative, one hundred percent self-managed by people in prison.— Source: Prensa Liberté
