A space of peace in prison: Javier's experience at Liberté

In a nutshell

Javier, deprived of his liberty in Batán, found in Liberté a space of peace and personal growth, participating in graphic design workshops and emotional activities such as Mother's Day, which allowed him to strengthen bonds and contribute positively to his rehabilitation process.

A meeting with opportunity

Javier is a person deprived of liberty housed in penitentiary unit 15 of Batán for some time and has recently joined Liberté. Therefore, he had the opportunity to participate in the recent event held at Cooperativa Liberté in the Salón Punto de Paz belonging to the institution, a workshop given by a professional of high standing where emotional bonds with mothers emerged.

New path in graphic design

"She really told me you should be there"

It all started when Javier met a companion in a welding course, who told him about Liberté. That’s how he started at Liberté and his first experience was in the organic garden, later he joined the graphic design area, (his profession), where he was able to carry out the work as a graphic designer.

Workshop on Mother's Day

On Mother's Day, Javier participated in a workshop given by psychologist Elena de La Aldea, Liberté’s itinerant ambassador.

"It was fascinating to have her and to have been nourished by her ability and experience," said Javier. In the workshop, Javier was able to describe his relationship with his mother and thank her for everything she had given him.

"Prison is a desert, but Liberté gives you the opportunity to be there calmly and give the best of yourself"— Javier

A place of peace in the desert

Javier expressed his gratitude for having found in Liberté a place of peace and tranquility. Javier commits to giving his one hundred percent so that Liberté continues to grow and gets better every day.
